United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC)

The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is a subsidiary body of the United Nations General Assembly, established in 2006 to promote and protect human rights worldwide. It replaced the former UN Commission on Human Rights. The UNHRC is responsible for addressing human rights violations, making recommendations, and promoting international cooperation in the field of human rights. It consists of 47 member states elected by the General Assembly for staggered three-year terms. The council meets regularly in Geneva, Switzerland, to discuss human rights issues and adopt resolutions and decisions aimed at addressing various human rights concerns globally.
